Frequently Asked Questions about Renting from Villa Turkey

Here’s a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions about Villa Turkey rentals. Take a quick look – you should find your question here. If not, please e-mail us on info@villa-turkey.co.uk and we will have an answer for you as soon as possible.

Q: How do I book a villa?
A: In 3 easy steps:

1.) E-mail us the villa of your choice and provisional dates of travel. Once received, we can usually confirm availability within 48 hours.
2.) You then book your flights, complete the on-line Booking Form and make your Payment. Once we have received the on-line Booking Form and your deposit Payment, we re-check the availability and send you a confirmation by e-mail.
3.) If you are making your booking more than 8 weeks before the start of the villa booking date, then a 50% deposit is required plus any money for a transfer or villa services ordered. You will then need to send us the balance of the payment 8 weeks before commencement of the booking. Once received, we will send you your Reservation Confirmation and a comprehensive Villa Guide.

Q: How is payment made?
A: Payment can be made by cheque or by bank transfer into our bank account or cheque by post.

Q: What number should I use to call villa-turkey.co.uk?
A: Refer to the numbers at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively e-mail the desk at info@villa-turkey.co.uk

Q: Are the rates per person or for the entire villa on a weekly basis?
A: Our rates are for the entire villa on a weekly basis.

Q: On which days do villa bookings usually commence?
Most villas have flexible changeover days, only being subject to availability; however a few villas stipulate a Wednesday. Please check with us.

Q: What is the required length of stay?
A: Normally a 7 or 14 night stay is required to tie in with your flights, but we aim to be as flexible as possible.

Q: Aren’t villas more expensive than a hotel?
A: As you explore the website we expect that you’ll see that many villas are often much cheaper than prices of hotels of the same quality standard. Villa rentals offer more privacy. More comfort, and more freedom than hotel rooms. Indeed the villa’s sleep at least 6 people which in a Hotel would mean at least two rooms. Your villa also comes with a fully equipped kitchen, making a Turkish villa rental an economical choice. When two or more people are travelling, a rental is usually considerably less expensive than staying in hotel rooms. When you factor in all the benefits and amenities of a private villa, you’ll quickly realise that a villa offers superb value. (Remember to compare rates per room / per night).

Q: What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
A: For all our villas, the following standard practices apply: a 50% deposit is required to hold a provisional reservation. Reservations are not considered firm until the full payment, in cleared funds, is received and our Reservation Confirmation and Villa Guide has been issued. In the event of you cancelling the booking, no refund is made. It is therefore strongly recommended that you take out Travel Insurance.

Q: Do mobile phones work in Turkey?
A: Generally most GSM network mobile phones work in Turkey although at times reception can be erratic and some locations are unsuitable for mobile telephones (mountains), so we advise that you check with your airtime provider. Landlines with phone cards are the most cost effective way of calling whilst in the country and there are many of these in and around the villa areas.

Q: Is Travel Insurance required?
A: Yes, it is strongly recommended that you arrange comprehensive travel insurance to include accommodation cancellation.

Q: Are visas required?
A: Visas are not required for EEC passport holders although a full passport valid for at least 3 months from your date of return is required. You will also need a £10 note payable at Antalya airport for you tourism tax. This is per person and covers you for 3 months stay in the country.

Q: Are Vaccinations required?
A: No inoculations or vaccinations are compulsory for UK residents, but the DHSS does recommend certain health precautions for travellers. – see their leaflets SA40 and SA41 for details (obtainable from your local Dept. of Health office) or ask your doctor. Should you be taking any form of medication, take adequate supplies with you and carry them, as well as items like contact lenses, in your hand luggage only.

Q: Are there any currency restrictions?
A: There is no limit on how much currency you take out of the UK. The Turkish Government allows you to bring in or take out up to £500 in local currency without declaring this. We recommend you take most of your spending money in the form of traveller’s cheques (sterling), although in the major tourist centres the banks should cash cheques written in conjunction with a Euro cheque card, and credit cars are widely accepted. You can also withdraw money from cash machines many of which are multi lingual and dispense a variety of different currency types. Paying for things in Turkey is either with Turkish Lire or the Euro.

Q: Are the Safety Standards and Regulations the same as in the UK?
A: The safety standards and regulations in operation in Turkey may not reach the same level as those we enjoy in the UK. The monitoring, enforcement and compliance with these local regulations is a matter for the authorities of that country and the foreign supplier of the services concerned. The general standards of safety and hygiene, fire precautions etc, will generally be lower than in the UK. Liability insurance requirements vary considerably from country to country, as do the responsibilities placed on the organization by local law. Please therefore take all precautions to protect yourself and you family whilst on holiday.

Q: What about insects and pests?
A: The villas and village houses are often located in rural areas. Indeed, for many people, this is one of their great attractions. However, having open countryside nearby or a location within a working village, ‘friendly locals’ can include more than the village priest. Ants, lizards, wasps, frogs, bats, mosquito’s etc are not uncommon in Turkey (After all, they were there first!) although no more numerous than anywhere else in the Mediterranean. So, if you or any of your party are likely to be squeamish about a possible visit from local wildlife, we recommend you check with us as to the suitability and location of your chosen accommodation before you book.

Q: What are the check in and check out times?
A: Access to villas and village houses is dependant on your flight times and there are no restrictions.

Q: Do the villas with Satellite TV, have English channels?
A: Most satellite systems in Turkey have over 400 channels on free view however these are mainly a mixture of Asian and European channels. Usually there are just a few English channels like Eurosport, CNN News, Euro News, BBC World and MtV.

Q: Is a car required?
A: Turkey has a good and cheap travel resource known as the Dolmus (14 seater white mini bus) and many taxi’s. We therefore do not recommend that guests hire a car, you should find that all you need is within a short distance of the villa, prices for car hire vary through the year and it depends on the type of vehicle required. Please let us know when you initially email if you would like a car and we’ll send you a quote. Alternatively if you initially decide not a hire a car but change your mind whilst in Turkey ask at our office and/or there are many car hire places that you can approach directly whilst on holiday.

Q: What if I want to give you some feedback?
A: Then please do! We need your feedback to constantly improve our service and give us great new ideas on how to make your travelling lives easier. Get those fingers tapping and email us at feedback@villa-turkey.co.uk. Or if you recommend us to your friends get them to tell that you recommended us and we'll give you a £50 voucher towards your next booking.

Q: Do the villas have telephone or internet access?
A: None of our villas have the use of a telephone for telephone calls or internet access. To make telephone calls you can either use local phone boxes or use your own mobile phone (see above). There are internet café’s in most of the resort areas.

Q: Are the towels provided?
A: All of our properties have towels a-plenty.

Q: Is bedding provided?
A: Yes and we also equip the villa’s with travel / UK adaptor electrical sockets. A list of things available at the villa and suggestions for what are good ideas to bring will be found in the Villa Guide along with things to do, places to see, instructions for the air conditioning and how to read the dial on a Turkish washing machine.

Q: What about liability?
A: We are unable to accept responsibility for any aspect of your holiday affected by matters over which we have no control. These include war, riots or cival unrest, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disasters, fire, flood, drought, industrial disputes, airport closures or technical transportation problems. Any event affecting the scheduling of aircraft or other transport or other circumstances amounting to force majeure. We do not accept responsibilty in respect of death, bodily injury or illness of any person within the property or complex. Whilst we endeavour to ensure all information published is correct guests must bear in mind certain facilities or amenities may not be available as stated due to maintenance, weather conditions, lack of demand, or for any other reason outside of our control.

The standards of the country you are visiting apply to services provided there, and these may differ to those in your country of residence. Suppliers supplying the services do so in accordance with their own terms and conditions. Some of these terms and conditions may limit or exclude the supply of liability to you, in accordance with international convention. Guests are reminded to carry travel and health insurance.
